You do know that to make your videos look as great as they should, you’d need to trim off unwanted parts, add transitions between clips, include background music, etc.

But how do you get all this done in a snap even as a complete beginner, especially now that Windows Movie Maker has been discontinued?

In this guide, I will be showing you how to quickly edit your videos in Windows 10 using a Movie Maker alternative called Animotica.

So, without further ado, let’s dive into it!

Step 1: Install and Launch Animotica

Hit this link to install Animtoica for free on Microsoft Store. Once it’s installed, launch the app and hit New Project. This will bring you to the project window, where you can upload and edit your video.

Step 2: Add Media Files

This is where you upload the media files you need to edit. To proceed, hit on Add Video/Photo Clips. On the tray that comes up, select Add Video or Photo Clips.

Next, navigate to the location of your media files (videos, pictures, or both!), select them, and hit Open. This will upload them to your project window so you can now proceed with the editing.

Step 3: Edit Your Video

There are several things you can do to make your video ‘pop.’ But we’ll cover the basic ones, like aspect ratio, trimming, transitions, and background audio.

  • To change your aspect ratio:

Tap on the aspect ratio icon to reveal a set of aspect ratios for different platforms—YouTube, Instagram, Classic TV, etc. Select the one you need, and you’ll be done!

  • Trim your video:

Tap on the clip you want to trim to reveal a set of editing options. Tap on Trim and select Trim Slider to start trimming.

You can trim from the beginning or the end of your video, depending on what you want to achieve, as shown below.

  • To Add Transition between two Clips:

Tap on the tiny line between the two clips to reveal all the transition options.

You can set the duration of the transition if you want. Once you’ve made your choice, hit Go Back.

  • To Add Background Audio:

Tap on Audio. On the new window, hit Add Audio.

This will take you to Animotica’s library of royalty-free audio. But if you have a specific audio you’d like to use, hit Select File, navigate to your storage location to find the audio, and hit Open.

Step 4: Export and Share

Once you’re done editing your video, it’s time to export. To proceed, hit Save Video.

On the new window, you can leave the settings as they are because Animotica automatically chooses the best balance between size and quality so you can export faster without compromising the quality of your video.

That said, hit Save As to give your video a name. After inputting the filename, hit Save to begin exporting.

Once the app is done exporting, you can share it directly to YouTube or any other apps on your PC by clicking the appropriate buttons as shown below.

Conclusion

Ever since Windows Movie Maker got decommissioned, so many alternatives have shown up. Many of these apps focus on adding complex features so much that things could get a little complicated for regular people who just want to make great videos without being too technical.

I hope this guide is helpful enough. Just follow the steps, experiment with any features you find interesting, and have fun!

Cheers.
