If you are a subscriber to Spotify’s Premium service, you’re a few clicks away from having the company send you a free Google Home Mini (not to be confused with the new Google Nest Mini).
Spotify ran a similar promotion around this same time in 2018 as part of a celebration for teaming up with Google Home. Apparently the first Google Home Mini giveaway was enough of a success that Spotify has decided to launch the same offer again for its Premium subscribers.
The Google Home Mini provides another way for listening to Spotify while introducing users to the Google Assistant software that lives inside the Google Home Mini. Google sells the device for $ 49 and it enables users to begin playback by saying something like “Hey Google, play Disco Forever playlist on Spotify.” Beyond the powerful smart assistant and Google search capabilities, the Home Mini is compatible with more than 5,000 smart home devices from more than 150 brands.
Note that if you participated in last year’s giveaway and already got a free Google Home Mini, you aren’t eligible to receive another free one. However, folks who aren’t already a Spotify Premium subscriber but want the free Google Assistant, it seems you can sign up as a new customer and qualify for the Google Home Mini while supplies last.
Here’s how to get your free Google Home Mini (note again that this isn’t the new Google Nest Mini):
- Go to the Individual account or the Family account page.
- At one of those pages, log in on the top right of the screen.
- Once logged in, click on the area that reads “Already have Premium Individual? Get your Google Home Mini.”
Spotify Premium Individual accounts cost $ 9.99 a month ($ 4.99 for students), while Spotify Premium Family plan pushes that price to $ 14.99 but provides separate Premium accounts for up to six family members in the same household. It also includes some newly-added features such as Parental Controls, Family Mix, and Family Hub.
“Our renewed offer with Google Home Mini is another way we’re giving users access to music, anytime, anywhere, now with a better experience in the home through the magic of voice.”
