If you haven’t yet received Android 8.0 Oreo on your Samsung Galaxy S7/S7 edge purchased from U.S. Cellular, you can now download it via Samsung Kier desktop software. The last major U.S. carrier to update the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, U.S. Cellular recently refreshed its software page to reflect the new changes.
Regardless of whichever of the two Samsung smartphones you own, Galaxy S7 or S7 edge, you should be looking for firmware version G930R4TYU4CRF2, which will update your phone to Android 8.0 Oreo.
No information is available about what other improvements the update contains aside from Android 8.0 Oreo, but users who received the update last week claim it also adds the April security patch.
In the same piece of news, LG G6 and G6+ are getting similar updates, but the firmware version is different: US99720b. Although we can safely assume LG also included a security patch, U.S. Cellular hasn’t included a changelog on its support page yet, so it’s impossible to say with certainty which security update will be added after the update.
