Amazon Echo Show adds support for front door security cameras just prior to next week's launch

Priced at $ 229.99, the Echo Show smart speaker device from Amazon goes on sale June 28th, featuring a 7-inch touchscreen. Thanks to support from home security camera manufacturers like Nest, August, Amcrest, EZViz, IC Realtime, Vivint, Ring, Arlo, and Logitech, Echo Show users will be able to ask Alexa to show them the front door, and the touchscreen will reveal what the security camera sees as it stands guard.

Starting today, the new Smart Home Camera Control is available to all Alexa developers, allowing the Echo Show to combine security cameras with AI Assistant Alexa’s capabilities, and the touchscreen. This is the first smart speaker to sport a touchscreen.

One of the aforementioned security firms Ring, has posted a video about its smart doorbell which includes a camera and microphone to stream audio and video to your smartphone. Now, that stream can be sent to your Echo Snow.  Thanks to Ring’s Skill for Alexa, there is no need to fumble for your phone when the bell rings. In response to your vocal command, you’ll know who is by your front door which adds a layer of security that is quite comforting to those resting at home.

The Amazon Echo Show will be available next Wednesday, from Amazon of course. For more information, click on the sourcelink.
