Global Event Locations and Dates Announced for Niantic’s AR Title Ingress

Niantic Labs may well be better known as the studio behind Pokemon GO but that does mean the developer has forgotten about its first augmented reality (AR) title, Ingress. Today, Niantic Labs has revealed the locations and dates for the Ingress real world global event taking place around the world in 2018 and 2019.

Ingress launched back in 2012, set in a sci-fi universe where players are divided into two factions, The Enlightened and The Resistance, and must collaborate to discover and capture Portals disguised as public art and landmarks in the real world. Since the original release Niantic Labs has hosted more than 2,000 events around the world, with 2018 and 2019 set to increase that number even further.

There will be a couple of different Ingress events being held, the main one being Ingress XM Anomaly Events which are free and immerse players in unique storylines and take them on an adventure to complete objectives which change based on player activity onsite and at events happening in tandem throughout the world. Other events based around Ingress include  Operation Clear Field which are activities tailored to environmental conservation and giving back to the community;  Ingress Mission Days, taking players on a journey across a city with special exploration activities and GORUCK events integrate Ingress gameplay into a physical and mental team challenge of varying levels.
